Peelander Z!!!!!

I just saw this band (at the Bowery Poetry Club). I am pretty sure I can say without a doubt, it was the best concert I have ever been too. I want to see them again.
I'd never even heard any of their music before today, but it wasn't hard to pick up on the lyrics; the song titles gave away 80% of the words.
They were so goofy, and there was so much audience participation (limbo, baseball, bowling, banging on metal bowls, choreographed dancing, and huge index cards with lyrics).

This is a great music video:

*They were dressed up like that for the show (including the squid costume).

Keeping Time

I used to call this guy the timekeeper/traffic director. The rumor is that he lives in Washington Square Park. Its weird how everyone sees him almost everyday, but they just kinda ignore him...

CMJ (College Music Journal) started on Tuesday in NYC. Its fucking killing me//blowing my mind.
I wish I had remembered to email this person in my Major who could have gotten me a free ($400) CMJ pass. But I stupidly forgot and a lot of my friends remembered. So now I will have to pay in order to enter most CMJ events (but they often free or cheap).
I've already missed a lot of the best concerts/events, but there are still a few left for the weekend.

I am so going to this one:
*DJ Tao Lin?!? Carles???!???

I might go to this:

But I really wanna see Atlas Sound tomorrow at 4:30 pm:

#OccupyingMyBed

Saturday, 9:00 pm:
Layin' in my bed right now...too tired to do anything tonight, I think I'm staying in....maybe I will actually do some work?
I am still kinda fucked-up from last night (via goin' haaaam). Hung out with some cool kids, went to some cool places, yeah.
Listening to some good shit (via last.fm mix radio, hatin' on spotify right now)

Occupy Wall Street-ers were in Washington Square earlier today. So many dirty hippies! I like what they are trying to do, but everyone knows that they haven't really organized yet, and a lot of the people participating are not completely sure on what the whole thing is about. But I really hope this inspires action in Congress, I am definitely in the 'other 99%'.

There are a ton of great spin-offs on Occupy Wall Street (ie. Occupy Sesame Street).

Sunday, 7:00 pm:
What is with these men-ups?? I think they are actually kinda funny, but a little bit disturbing. But hey, if that's what your into...

Sunday Monday, 2:00 am:
Naw, fuck it! I am going to sleep.

more books into movies?

I read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close this summer (mostly while on the metro in Barcelona). I really enjoyed it, and was very pleased with the ending.
I just found out about the movie, which will star Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock. From the trailer (below) it looks pretty good, ever though it is not really how I imagined it in my mind.

Everything is Illuminated (by the same author) was made into a very good movie, so I think this should be good too. However, I hope that it keeps true to the book a little more, while still making sense.

Damn, why are almost all the 'blockbuster' movies, made in the last decade, so unoriginal? It is very disappointing that most million-dollar-movies are either remakes, sequels, or books (turned into screenplays). Maybe its a lack of innovation in the media, or maybe its just laziness, or even greed?
This is why I never go to the movie theaters any more (unless they are showing cheap indie movies or foreign films). damn, that makes me sound like a fucking hipster....

sorry for selling out.

so...really sorry about putting adds on this blog, i know its a pain in the ass...but i couldn't find a federal work-study job at nyu...and i kinda want to make a few dollars here and there (and i dont plan on being a drug dealer).

i dont really know how it works, but it think every time some one on clicks on an add on this blog, I make a couple cents or something..? i don't expect to make anything, but even a few dollars a month would be cool.

i promise not to spend the money i make from this blog on drugs or alcohol. i'll probably use it for groceries or socks/shoes or something.

thank you for your understanding.
much love. peace & prosperity.

BABY PANDAAASSSS!

I am so vulnerable to cuteness:

*what is cuter than baby pandas? - nothing.

Saw Panda Bear at Webster Hall on Saturday. It was fucking awesome. Surprisingly, he played almost all of Tomboy, pretty much all the way through.
Here are some pics my roommate, Kate, took at the show:

*me, getting my mind blown by the awesomeness of the trippy lights inside of Webster Hall.

He ended the show by leaving the stage and leaving this graphic playing for a few minutes (a weird guy sticking his tongue out and moving it around):
....omg, so artsy! so conceptual!

John Cage is a hipster genius.

I saw Beirut last thursday at Terminal 5, it was amazing! They are so talented, and just awesome.
The 2nd best part of the night (1st being Beirut/Zach Condon in his magnificence) was probably either making some new friends in line, or getting Halal gyros after the show. I am in love with Halal food trucks, I wish I didn't have to walk by them so often, the smell of them makes my mouth water.
Have you seen the new-ish video for Santa-Fe? It made me sad because I love puppies...but I still enjoy it. Watch it below:

I also saw the FLEET FOXES last saturday! I saw them in Brooklyn at the Williamsburg Waterfront, which was beautiful at sunset. You could see Brooklyn Bridge and the landscape of Manhattan against the color-changing sky as the sun set. It was remarkable, as was the music of the Fleet Foxes; their voices/harmonies are so mellow and ghostly, in a great way.

Below are some other new-ish music videos, by some chill-wave artists that are pretty cool:

I really love this Washed Out video:
*So0o ChiLL Brah!
**but really, this video is great. Being carefree, finding love within the loneliness of the journey....I feel a deep connection with the character in the video (good acting/directing?), do you feel it too?

Neon Indian - Polish girl:
*Neon Indian is really getting better/growing up--music-wise.

Explosions in the Sky - Be Comfortable Creature:

Avey Tare - Oliver Twist:

*its a bit disturbing, but its good animation and a great song.

Best Coast - When I'm With You:

*BestyCoasty is goofy. But I am not gunna lie, I hate clowns--especially ronald mcdonald.

Wavves - Bug:

*lol, oh wavvves!
