Concrete Inspiration

So I was on the interwebz, lookin' for some good gifs and interesting inspiration, and I found a little on Tumblr (lame I know)...but sometimes they are actually well made. Below is a list of all the ones I saw and liked (or used images/gifs from). But be careful, sometimes there will be NSFW content!

some pretty decent Tumblrs:

"and at that moment, I swear we were infinite."

*when is the movie of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" coming out? I'm really excited, it is one of my favorite novels and Emma Watson is playing Sam. I'm thinking its going to be amazing.

umm, do you like this dancing panda?

My new desktop background:

Lets get fucked up and do stupid shit:

*looks like some crazy, dangerous fun to me.

I hope my college experience in nyc mildly resembles that gif...in a good way (crazy friends), but not to that extreme (risky/uncontrollable behavior). Maybe I am just feeling that angsty rebellion that teenagers have, and I can't wait to be on my own/do 'whatever the fuck I want'...its a dangerous feeling, especially when your life is basically unsupervised....

the world is ending?

No, the world is not ending--yet--but the weather has been pretty crazy around here the past week.
first, an earthquake in the un-supecting, un-prepared east coast!
I heard Pitchfork gave it a 5.8....

and then there was the hurricane, Irene, which delayed my move to NYU. But I should be thankful that I wasn't there when it hit (Mayor Bloomberg decided to have a mandatory evacuation of most of NYC), and now the city is partially flooded. Another NYU student made this pic because they where upset:

I leave to move into my apartment/dorm tomorrow morning at 4 am. Damn, thats going to be rough...hopefully traffic isn't too bad (due to the flooding, other hurricane damage).

less human, more being.

No matter how hard I try, I still can't skip rocks...

i really wanna know more about that james blake/bon iver thingy: fall creek boys choir?!

I haven't updated this blog in like a week, but I am moving to NYC in a week, so I guess thats a good excuse (packing and shit...and hanging out with some friends for the last time before we leave). Sooo...here is a long post, with a lot of random shit. Peace and Love!

some goood tumblrs I found recently:

Do you have a hype machine thingy? mine username is the same as my last.fm: oddities9

On steven colbert report a couple days ago:
instead of splitting up 'Obamacare' to 'Obama Cares' it should be 'O! Bam! A car! Eee!'
very clever, very clever.

Here are some more good vids:

Radiohead posted the entirety of the "From the Basement" live concert thingy on youtube (below)!

*yeah, even if they are over-rated, they are still pretty cool...*

and my friend, DMac, says this is the 'ultimate summer song':

*here is DMac's tumblr (click the link), its pretty good.

smooth sounds for lazy days

Yay, you can listen to the new Beirut album for free on NPR (link)!!!

After listening to that, I went on to check out some other stuff on the NPR Music website, below are some of my great finds!
These great musicians really love what they are doing, its cute how they smile and laugh at each other as they play:

*I also love the sound of the hollow-body guitar, and that the drummer sometimes uses his hands and actual broom-heads to play.

Tiny Desk Concerts of Givers and Y La Bamba and this amazing Spanish guitarist, Milos.

This is good for today:

*man, that is a great song.

Also, I just got Spotify, but I dont really understand it yet, whats the big deal? I get that you can make playlist, and listen to full songs without buying them, but other than that, I dont really understand what the point of having one is.

Un poco mas.

Some photos I took of Barcelona, with a disposable camera:

*I didn't think any of these photos would come out well. Luckily, most of them look pretty good, but the rest are almost impossible to figure out. Digital pics from Spain/France next!

wtf man.

WTF:
http://oddbieber.tumblr.com
Should he ditch the mainstream and join Odd Future?
Have you heard of his perfume--for girls? (wtf? have you smelt it?)
How much ass do you think he gets on a weekly basis?
*Never in my life did I think I would ever post something even somewhat related to this 'teen-pop-star' whose name I cannot say without throwing up a little bit....sorry, I exaggerated a lil, but you know what I mean.

WTF:
here are some important phrases in spanish that I wish I knew before I came:
Tio/Tia (dude/gurl)
¡Joder! (shit!)
¡Que te jodas! (go screw yourself)
Estas jodido. (you are screwed)
¿Quieres follar? (do you want to fuck?)
¿Pero qué coño? (what the fuck?)
*but be careful if you ever use these phrases! Different spanish-speaking countries use different words/phrases and take some more offensively than others. For example: the direct translation of 'coño' and 'conejo' is cunt; in Spain they are used casually, but you can't say them in other countries without offending someone.
**do you have any other words/phrases you'd like to know how to say in spanish? or do you know any other good ones? (ask/write in comments)

WTF:
I'll be back in the USA in about 13 hours. But when I get there, the time difference will make it only 7 hours from now. oh shitz i hate the whole time change thing, it messes with your head!
Photos from Spain will go up next, I keep procrastinating!

not-so-concise

I am trying to finish a post before I run out of Wi-Fi time (or weefee, as they call it in spanish), but I have too much to say. I just highlighted a ton of what I wanted to mention in this post, and deleted it. I decided if I am ever going to finish, I should just make it simple.
I don't have any pictures ready to put up right now either, but I promise to post some as soon as possible!  Check out this list of places I have visited/plan to visit since Monday: Cadaques, Carcassonne, HondarribiaSan Sebastian, Pamplona, Najera, Santo Domingo, Logroño, Madrid....more places?
*I think Barcelona is still my favorite so far, but maybe because it feels like home now.

Did I mention the police came (knocking on the door) to the rooftop party I went to last Friday? I never really found out, but I think they came because of noise complaints. I hope someone was taking photos of that night because I didn’t think to bring my camera. It was lot of fun and the 'unofficial going away party' for about seven people (including me), it got a little crazy. Like every night out in Barcelona, I met a lot really interesting people-that I would totally hang out with/want to be friends with-but it was disappointing realizing that I was leaving the next day and I wouldn't get the chance to hangout with them or anything.
After that party, I got back to my homestay apartment around 7 am. I was really hungry and I didn't think the my homestay mother (the older lady whose home I was living in) would be awake yet....so I started raiding the refrigerator for food. As I was stuffing left over pasta into my mouth, she walks into the kitchen and says (translated to english), "you're up already? wow, its so early! I thought I heard the door open, so I wanted to see if it was you leaving or something" and I told her, "actually, I am just getting in!". Luckily, she is really sweet and just laughed at me for being crazy and staying out all night. Even though there where other students living with us, she quickly learned that I would happily sleep all day, if I could (if she hadn't seen me in a long time, she would knock on my door to see if I was still alive).
